Our first week of teen camp was amazing as we learned all about our inspirations. The Metropolitan Prada Schiaparelli exhibit taught us all about Naïf Chic, Ugly Chic, and the classical body. We searched and swatched at Mood fabrics for pieces to add to our inspiration boards. The FIT museum showed a bit of fashion history from the art Deco flapper styles of the 20′s to Dior’s New Look of the 50′s.
Each afternoon was devoted to sewing and design as students cut, sewed and draped dresses. Each dress was modeled after one purchased from H&M on our shopping trip. Students had a budget of $25 and 30 minutes to shop. The dresses were cut up and used as a pattern for a new design.

Next week is all about design. We will visit the Calvin Klein office and the CFDA showroom!
